What is Dads?- Dads events are designed to enhance
the bond between fathers and their children and to provide education
for parents who have sons or daughters of any age with a developmental
disability.
Where and when does Dads meet?- The Dads events
meets 4 times a year. Father/child meetings are done on the
weekend, while informational meetings are generally held on an
evening during the week at The Arc of Lincoln/Lancaster County
office.
What can I expect at a Dads meeting?- Some Dads
meetings are Father/Child events that enable fathers to spend quality
time with their children, network with other fathers and gain the
newest information on disability issues. These activities
have included a trip to the zoo and bowling. Other meetings
are for parents only. They focus on disability issues and
feature local speakers on topics such as guardianship, special
needs trusts, and disability legislation.
Is respite service provided?- Respite services
are not formally provided at informational meetings unless members
of the group request accommodations.
